EDEN PRAIRIE, MN (The Spread) – The Minnesota Vikings need wide receivers but as of right now, they’re saying ‘no thanks’ to free agent Randy Moss.
Given the trouble he caused during his second stint with the team, the disinterest in bringing back one of the most popular players among Vikings fans in franchise history comes as no surprise. But general manager Rick Spielman confirmed Thursday the Vikings “will be moving on” without Moss.
The 35-year-old didn’t play last season, but he announced this week he plans to return to the NFL. Spielman says Moss is a “great player” but that the Vikings’ “focus is more on trying to get a young team.” Spielman says he sees a strong group of wide receivers available through the draft and on the free agent market.

Oddsmakers have actually released prop odds for which team will sign Moss and the Vikings aren’t even mentioned. At the top of the short list is one of Moss’ former teams in the New England Patriots, who are 5/2 to sign the receiver this offseason. (You can check out the rest of Moss’ prop odds for where he’ll sign next.)
The Vikings are currently listed as 100/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl after opening at that same number. They’re also 50/1 long shots to win the NFC championship next season after opening at 50/1.
