(The Spread) – Two NFL legends aren’t practicing this week for their respective teams.
According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, quarterback Peyton Manning did not practice on Wednesday. The injury stems from the low hit Manning took from Chargers defensive end Corey Liuget last Sunday. He’s been nursing injuries to both ankles for a couple of weeks but he’ll be under center on Sunday night when the Broncos host the Chiefs in Week 11. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 9.5-point favorites versus the Chiefs.
In related news, Dwayne Bowe will play and start for the Chiefs on Sunday. He was arrested on speeding and marijuana charges on Sunday night during Kansas City’s bye week. Under the new CBA, the Chiefs can’t suspend Bowe and while the NFL could, it won’t review the case until the legal system runs its course. Bowe is in the midst of a down season but he’s still the Chiefs’ best receiving threat.
In Atlanta, tight end Tony Gonzalez isn’t practicing due to toe injury. He was spotted hobbling around the team’s locker room following the Falcons’ loss to the Seahawks last Sunday and it doesn’t look good that he’ll play versus the Bucs in Week 11. The Falcons also placed left tackle Sam Baker on season-ending I.R., so the injury issues continue to haunt Atlanta in 2013. The Falcons are currently a 1-point road favorite versus the Bucs on Sunday.
One more injury note, Packers’ tight end Jermichael Finley says he has elected to undergo spinal fusion surgery. Even at 26 years old, Finley’s career is in jeopardy.
