(The Spread) – Despite the Indiana Pacers forcing a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat remain favored to win this year’s NBA Finals championship.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Heat are 2/3 favorites to win the 2013 NBA Championship, while the San Antonio Spurs are 8/5 and the Pacers are 15/2. Before Game 6, Indiana was 16/1 long shots but thanks to David West’s efforts on Saturday, the Pacers are on the verge of playing for a title.
West came into Game 6 with a fever above 100 degrees, but he finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks to help the Pacers force a Game 7. Of course, Paul George was the hero, scoring 28 points and adding eight boards and three steals. Roy Hibbert also notched 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The Heat have been getting little out of Chris Bosh, who scored just five points in Game 6, and Dwyane Wade, who scored just 10 points and finished with one assists. If it weren’t for LeBron James’ effort, Miami arguably would have been eliminated by this point.
Meanwhile, the Western Conference champion Spurs continue to gain rest waiting for the Pacers-Heat series to end. With aging stars like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili on the roster, San Antonio will gladly sacrifice some momentum for more rest.
