(The Spread) – Betting on the NHL can be one of the more prosperous ways that bettors can build their bankroll, but finding underdogs can be tough. That’s why we’ve listed a few teams to keep an eye on for Tuesday’s games.
According to online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Islanders are +161 on the money line against the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday night. New York’s overall record of 15-27-7 is highly unimpressive, but Atlanta is just 1-4 in its last five home games and 0-4 in its last four versus the Atlantic. The Thrashers are also 0-6 in their last six as a favorite.
The favorite is 4-1 in the last five meetings between the Panthers and Maple Leafs, but Florida is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams. Toronto is also 2-6 in its last eight home games and 1-6 in its last seven games overall. The Leafs are just 21-43 in their last 64 games on Tuesday nights and 2-5 in their last seven games as a home favorite.
The Flyers are a stellar 4-1 in their last five trips to Tampa Bay and 5-2 in their last seven games against the Lightning overall. The road team is also 4-1 in their last five meetings between these two teams, while Philly is 6-1 in its last seven road games. The Flyers are also 4-1 in their last five games as a road underdog and 8-2 in their last 10 games on Tuesday nights.
The Sharks have dropped from –170 on the money line down to –155, so clearly somebody sees value in the Coyotes tonight. That includes us. Phoenix hasn’t faired well against San Jose in recent years, which is why the Coyotes are a decent-sized underdog. But they’re also hot, winning five of their last five games as an underdog and five of their last five games on the road. The Sharks are also just 2-8 in their last 10 games as a favorite and 1-4 in their last five versus a team with a losing record.
As always, be smart with the information that we’ve provided. It’s important to cap your own games and seek your own conclusion about matchups. That said, hopefully you find some value in a couple of the underdogs that we’ve provided.
