PITTSBURGH, PA (The Spread) – Despite losing their projected starting running back for 6-8 weeks, the Steelers’ 2014 Super Bowl odds remain unscathed.
On Wednesday Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that Le’Veon Bell had been diagnosed a with Lisfranc injury and the Steelers were unsure at the time if the injury would require surgery. But later that afternoon, CBS’ Jason La Canfora reported that doctors were “hopeful” that Bell could heal without surgery.
The injury will sideline the rookie back 6-8 weeks, which would have him returning after the Steelers’ Week 5 bye. The team is now left with Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and La’Rod Stephens-Howling, which is an uninspiring trio of backs compared to Bell.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Steelers are 28/1 to win the 2014 Super Bowl, which were the same odds they had before Bell’s injury become public knowledge. Pittsburgh is also 12/1 to win the AFC Conference in 2014 and +200 to win the AFC North, which are the same odds as the Ravens and Bengals.
