2012 Belmont Stakes Odds
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – When the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes takes place on June 9, Triple Crown contender I’ll Have Another will be favored.
I’ll Have Another will attempt to become the 12th Triple Crown winner after becoming the 33rd horse to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. According to oddsmakers, I’ll Have Another is a massive 13/10 favorite to win the Belmont Stakes from Belmont Park in a couple of weeks.
With Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes runner-up Bodemeister out of the running, the horse with the next best odds to win the Belmont Stakes is Dullahan (5/1), who finished third in this year’s Kentucky Derby. Union Rags, who was favored along with Bodemeister to win the Derby, is also 5/1. Both Dullahan and Union Rags sat out of the Preakness Stakes, so both contenders will be fresh for the Belmont.
Continuing with the odds, Paynter is 9/1 to win the Belmont while Street Life and Alpha are 15/1, respectively. Atigun is 25/1, Unstoppable U is 28/1 and Optimizer is 30/1. The three long shots include Five Sixteen, Guyana Star Dweej and Ravelo’s Boy, who are all 50/1, respectively. Besides I’ll Have Another, Optimizer is the only other horse to compete in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. He finished 11th at Churchill Downs and sixth at Pimlico Race Course.
I’ll Have Another is currently on a four-outing win streak. He won the Grade II Robert B. Lewis back in February of this year and then placed first at the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 7. As previously mentioned, his last two victories came in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, respectively.
