BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Sabres goalie Ryan Miller returned to the net soon after his nose was bloodied by a shot to the mask in the second period of Buffalo’s game against Nashville on Wednesday.
Miller was welcomed back by a rousing cheer with 8:58 remaining in the period. In his brief absence, backup Jocelyn Thibault gave up two goals on seven shots, allowing the Predators to cut their deficit to 4-3.
Miller, struck by Marek Zidlicky’s blast from inside the blue line 3 minutes into the period, looked woozy, and briefly collapsed to the ice. Jan Hlavac, making his Predators debut, scored on the play by depositing the rebound into the open left side.
Blood dripped from Miller’s nose after a trainer helped him, and the goalie got up to his knees in the crease.
Miller, playing in his 17th straight game and 59th this season, skated off on his own and went immediately to the locker room. He had stopped the first 13 shots he faced, before Hlavac’s goal cut Buffalo’s lead to 3-1.
