BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Sabres defenseman Teppo Numminen came off the injured list on Wednesday and played against Toronto after missing six games.
Numminen had been sidelined because of a small break in his jaw after he was hit by a puck against Carolina on Jan. 17. He previously had two goals and 12 assists in 45 games.
To make room on the roster for Numminen, Buffalo sent defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani to Portland of the AHL. Gragnani had no points in four games with the Sabres.
Maple Leafs forward Jeremy Williams was also activated from the injured list and was in the lineup against Buffalo after he missed 14 games due to a shoulder injury. Rookie goalie Justin Pogge started against Buffalo after being recalled from the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate, also located in Toronto.
The Maple Leafs also assigned D Jonas Frogren and Andre Deveaux to the minors.
