BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Buffalo Sabres captain Craig Rivet was held out of Monday’s game against Nashville because of an upper body injury.
The defenseman was on the ice when the Sabres skated Monday morning, then scratched later in the afternoon. The Sabres, who next play on Thursday night at Florida, said he is day-to-day.
Rivet, obtained in a trade with San Jose this offseason, missed five games earlier in the year after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
Agitator Patrick Kaleta also was out of the Predators game after he injured his head/neck following a hit by Montreal’s Andrei Kostitsyn in the third period of Buffalo’s game against the Canadiens on Saturday.
Ales Kotalik played for the first time since missing seven games after injuring his hamstring against Columbus on Nov. 14. He has five goals and 10 points in 16 games this season.
