LOS ANGELES (AP) -Detroit left wing Tomas Holmstrom has injured his left leg during the first period of the Red Wings’ game against the Los Angeles Kings.
Holmstrom, a member of Sweden’s Olympic team, won’t return to Saturday’s game, the Red Wings said.
Holmstrom returned to Detroit’s lineup last Tuesday night at San Jose after missing 13 games with a broken foot. He played most of the first period against the Kings before leaving the bench late in the period.
The 13-year veteran has 15 goals and eight assists in 45 games this season, scoring his 200th career goal in December. He is slated to play in his second Olympics with Sweden after winning a gold medal in Turin in 2006.
