WASHINGTON (AP) -Alex Ovechkin has scored his 200th NHL goal.
Ovechkin reached the milestone in the third period of the Washington Capitals’ game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night, his 296th career contest.
He is the fourth player in league history to score 200 goals in his first four seasons, joining Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux.
The NHL’s reigning MVP spun around and sent a wrist shot past goalie Jonathan Quick 10:32 into the period for an unassisted goal.
It’s Ovechkin’s NHL-high 37th goal this season.
