ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -The Anaheim Ducks were busy Saturday, signing defensemen Sean O’Donnell and Kent Huskins to two-year contract extensions, trading center Tim Brent to Pittsburgh and acquiring winger Jason King from the Vancouver Canucks.
The 35-year-old O’Donnell scored 17 points in 79 games last season, his second with the Stanley Cup champions. O’Donnell had two points in 21 playoff games during the Ducks’ run to the title.
The 27-year-old Huskins made his NHL debut with the Ducks last season, appearing in 33 regular-season games and 21 in the playoffs.
Brent made his NHL debut last season, appearing in 15 games and scoring one point for the Ducks. The Ducks traded the 23-year-old for Stephen Dixon, a 21-year-old center who spent last season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
Anaheim sent Ryan Shannon to Vancouver for King, a 25-year-old who had 12 goals and 23 points in 55 games for the Canucks between 2002 and 2004. Shannon split last season between Anaheim and Portland in the AHL. The 23-year-old had two goals and 11 points in 53 games with the Ducks.
