GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -The Phoenix Coyotes are sending forward Kevin Porter to the AHL after signing center Colin Long.
The 23-year-old Porter had 5 goals and 5 assists in 34 games for the Coyotes as a rookie last season. He also had 13 goals and 22 assists in 42 games with San Antonio of the AHL.
Porter, a fourth-round pick in 2004, won the 2008 Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s top player as a senior at Michigan. He joined San Antonio for that season’s Calder Cup playoffs and had four assists in seven games.
Long, a fourth-round draft choice in 2008, had 33 goals and 58 assists last season while leading Kelowna to the WHL championship.
