COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets recalled left wing Joakim Lindstrom on Monday from the club’s top minor-league affiliate in Syracuse.
The club also assigned goaltender Tomas Popperle to the American Hockey League team in Syracuse. Popperle was added to the roster on emergency recall on Nov. 28.
Lindstrom, who turns 24 on Wednesday, has appeared in 12 games with the Blue Jackets and scored his first career NHL goal at Minnesota on Dec. 29, 2006. He was the Blue Jackets’ second pick, 41st overall, in the 2002 draft.
The Swede had 11 goals and 13 assists in 22 games with Syracuse this season.
He is expected to help fill in for forwards Fredrik Modin (back spasms), Manny Malhotra (bruised knee) and David Vyborny (back pain).
