Carlson racking up points
Washington defenseman John Carlson nearly won Game 3 way earlier than the Caps eventually did by a 3-2 score in double overtime as is screaming slap shot found post and no net after he beat Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. It was somewhat surprising he didn’t record the goal as he’s had such a strong series on both ends of the ice. Carlson assisted on six of the seven Capitals goals over the first two games, while he then added a goal and nearly had another in Game 3. Carlson is an exciting two-way talent who finished the regular season with 15 goals and 58 assists. Despite the solid numbers, it is clearly Carlson continues to get better.
Ovechkin proclamation comes closer
Following two straight overtime losses at home, Washington star Alexander Ovechkin caused some headlines when he stated the Capitals would return to D.C. with the series all knotted up at 2-2. Washington barely survived Game 3 in double overtime, but now are in a much better position to win the series and would continue to shut up critics and reminders of its playoff failures with another road win. If anyone has any leeway to be confident, it’s one of the NHL’s all-time great goal scorers who wants to prove he can lead a team to playoff glory.
NHL Betting Trends
Washington
The Capitals are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. Washington is 6-0 in its last six road games.
Columbus
The over is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings in Columbus. The Blue Jackets are 0-4 in their last four games played on one day of rest.
Prediction:
I’m not sure if Washington should be trusted here. Bettors might have been wooed by what it did in Game 3 and Ovechkin had his own guarantee, but the fact of the matter is it was the narrowest of wins. Columbus’ fans will be rocking again and we haven’t set seen the game where Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is impossible to beat. Could it be here? I’m going to take my chances on the home team.
