Stars’ Cup odds go from 50/1 to 25/1
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The Dallas Stars have had a busy offseason and following a pair of significant moves to their roster this offseason, their 2016 Stanley Cup odds have improved.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Stars opened with 50/1 odds to win next year’s Stanley Cup after the odds were released shortly following the Blackhawks’ championship victory over the Lightning. But now Dallas is 25/1 to win next year’s Cup.
Earlier this offseason the Stars acquired Patrick Sharp from the aforementioned Blackhawks, along with defensive prospect Stephen Johns. Dallas parted with defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Ryan Garbutt, as well as retained 50 percent of Garbutt’s salary in addition to acquiring Sharp’s expensive contract. But despite spending big, the Stars added a much-needed impact player in Sharp.
The Stars weren’t done either, as they recently signed former Chicago defenseman Johnny Oduya to a two-year deal worth $7.5 million. Oduya brings needed veteran experience to a Dallas’ back end that should be much improved in 2015.
GM Jim Nill has been active this offseason and oddsmakers have taken notice.
