Jacob Markstrom allowed five goals on 35 shots in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Markstrom had a quiet first period until the final minute when Jeff Petry was able to squeak one through his frame and into the back of the net. Nick Suzuki also got a soft-ball past the 32-year-old in the second period to pull the Canadiens within a goal of the Flames’ lead (3-2). Markstrom didn’t fare much better in the third period and was visibly upset with himself at the end of the game. He owns a 25-11-6 record with a 2.17 goals-against average and .925 save percentage.
