Anaheim is coming off a 5-4 OT win over the Flames in Game 3 on Monday night. The Ducks are up 3-0 in the series and they have won six straight meetings with the Flames. Anaheim comes into tonight’s game 49-23-13 overall and 18-15-9 on the road while Calgary is 45-35-5 overall and 24-17-1 at home.
The Flames held a 4-1 lead on the Ducks in the second period but saw that disappear. Shea Theodore scored late in the second period to make it 4-2. He would score again in the third, along with Nate Thompson, to force OT. Then, just 90 seconds into the extra frame, Corey Perry put home the game-winner. After giving up four goals, the Ducks put Jonathan Bernier in net and he stopped all 16 shots he faced. Brian Elliott continues to struggle against Anaheim, stopping just 22 of the 27 shots he faced.
It’s unclear who will be in net for both teams entering tonight’s game, but the Ducks should have plenty of momentum coming into this game after winning in OT. Even if Bernier isn’t in net, John Gibson has still been playing better than Elliott. If the Flames had a better option, Elliott likely would have been pulled sooner. Look for the Ducks to complete the sweep tonight with another high-scoring game.
