Flames vs. Devils Pick
Who the Oddsmakers Like: New Jersey. According to oddsmakers at YouWager, the Flames are a -115 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Devils are a -105 underdog, while the over-under is set at 5.5 goals. The spread opened as a pick’em before shifting in Calgary’s favor.
Who the Public Likes: Both teams. As of Thursday afternoon, 50 percent of public bets have gone on both the Flames and Devils. Online wagers are 69 percent in favor of the over.
Who We Like: Calgary won the first meeting this season by a 5-4 score in a shootout on its home ice back in November. The Flames have won two in a row, which ended a six-game losing skid. Calgary is 4-6 in its last 10 games, while the over-under has gone 5-5. New Jersey had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 loss at the Senators its last game. The Devils are 5-5 in their last 10 contests, while the under has gone 7-3.
I’m siding with New Jersey here. The Flames aren’t too far removed from their six-game losing streak and are overachieving on the road with a fantastic 14-5-1-4 record. The Devils are solid on their home ice and are in good enough form to send Calgary home with a defeat.
NHL DAILY PREDICTION: NEW JERSEY DEVILS -105
