Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 24-of-27 shots in regulation/overtime of Saturday’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche. While the Lightning were able to tie up the contest on a Brayden Point goal with time winding down in the third period, Vasilevskiy would be unable to hold down the Avalanche when all was said and done, with Cale Makar scored in the sixth round of shootout action to down the defending champions. Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon all scored goals against Vasilevskiy in regulation. The star goaltender has been noticeably off his game in five starts this season, allowing at least three goals in all but one of those contests. Contrast that to the 2020-21 campaign, when Vasilevskiy held a 2.21 GAA in 42 starts.
Pittsburgh Penguins DFS Spin
Tristan Jarry stopped 28-of-29 shots in Saturday’s 7-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jarry gave up a goal to Jason Spezza with eight minutes to go in the first period, but from that point on, it was lights out for the 26-year-old goaltender. It certainly helped that the Penguins were giving Jarry plenty of offensive support on the evening, most notably in the form of a five-goal second period. Jarry has been fantastic in the early going this season, allowing six goals in four starts. He has been even stingier of late, surrendering just one goal in each of his last two starts. The Penguins will take on the Lightning — whom they defeated to open the season — in their next scheduled contest.
