Ilya Sorokin blocked 29 of 31 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over New Jersey on Sunday. The Islanders were outshot 25-19 after the first period, but Sorokin was solid between the pipes. The Devils also had a goal called back in overtime following a review for offside. Sorokin has won each of his last six outings to give him a 6-2-1 record on the year.
Washington Capitals DFS Spin
Alex Ovechkin scored a goal in Monday’s 6-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Ovechkin took a feed from Conor Sheary and buried it past Carter Hutton to make it 6-0 for the Capitals. The goal is extremely significant because it ties him at sixth in the NHL’s all-time goal list with Phil Esposito at 717. Ovechkin finished the game with a plus-3 rating and six shots on goal in 20:04. The 35-year-old sniper has a goal in each of his last three games and totals 11 goals and 10 assists in 24 games.
Islanders vs. Capitals Prediction
The Islanders have had a ton of success in previous meetings with the Capitals in Washington, cashing in seven of their last nine trips to D.C. The road team in this series is also 12-3 in the last 15 meetings, while the Islanders are 6-2 in their last eight road games and are 16-5 in their last 21games overall.
