Robin Lehner let in seven goals on 37 shots in Sunday’s 7-1 loss against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1. Lehner was the backstop in the series opener, which was a bit surprising, and the Golden Knights were just not ready to play after a grueling seven-game series against the Minnesota Wild which just wrapped up Friday. You never want to throw a game away in the playoffs, but the Golden Knights had Lehner take one for the team, allowing Marc-Andre Fleury to rest. The teams have two days off before Game 2 at Ball Arena on Wednesday night. Lehner will be back to being the understudy and cheerleader for that one.

Nathan MacKinnon registered two more goals in Sunday’s 7-1 rout of the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1. MacKinnon picked up right where he left off in the first round against the St. Louis Blues. His second goal was a particularly sick goal, as he remains red hot and he looks like the early favorite for the Conn Smythe Trophy if he and the Avalanche can stay alive and do what a lot of people think they’re capable of doing. He also had an assist and a plus-3 rating with eight shots on goal in this one, and he is up to eight goals, 12 points and a plus-9 rating through just five games in this postseason. Game 2 is set for Wednesday night at Ball Arena in Denver.
Golden Knights vs. Avalanche NHL Prediction
Even with Lehner likely to sit for Game 2, is there any other way than to go with the over tonight with the way the Aves are scoring? The over is a perfect 4-0 in the Aves’ last four games overall, is 5-1 in their last six home games and is 8-2 in their last 10 games when their opponent allowed five goals or more in their previous contest. The over has also cashed in seven straight Vegas playoff games when the Golden Knights are listed as an underdog.
