Avs shut down by Islanders
Colorado suffered a 1-0 defeat Monday night at New York to drop to 25-14-4 on the season. The Islanders broke the scoreless tie with 13:06 remaining in the third period. The Avalanche registered 33 shots on goal in the defeat with Nathan MacKinnon leading the way with seven shots. Nazem Kadri and Gabriel Landeskog accounted for four shots apiece. Pavel Francouz stopped 32 shots on 33 attempts in the loss.
Rangers drop third straight
New York lost 2-1 Saturday night at Vancouver to fall to 19-18-4 on the season. Pavel Buchnevich tied the score at 1-1 for the Rangers with 12:01 left in the first period off an assist by Chris Kreider. The Canucks scored the go-ahead goal with 1:29 remaining in regulation. Alexandar Georgiev took the loss between the pipes as he surrendered two goals on 27 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
The Avalanche are 6-2 in their last eight games versus the Eastern Conference. Colorado is 7-3 in its last 10 road games.
The Rangers are 3-7 in their last 10 games overall. New York is 8-21 in its last 29 games versus the Western Conference.
Both teams are coming off a game where they struggled to find the back of the net, but Colorado is definitely the more trustworthy team in this spot. The Avalanche should have a much easier time solving the Rangers’ defense than it did against the elite back end of the Islanders. Expect the Avs to get the job done on the road tonight with a healthy offensive output to make up for last night’s egg.
