Blackhawks cruise past Red Wings
Chicago secured a 5-2 home win Sunday over the Red Wings to improve to 23-24-9 on the season. Dominik Kahun opened the scoring with 8:56 left in the first period on a goal assisted by Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome. Strome made it 2-0 with 1:57 remaining in the first off assists from Kahun and DeBrincat. After Detroit cut it to 2-1 through two periods, the Blackhawks pushed it back to a two-goal lead with 12:15 remaining in the third as Kahun scored his 11th goal of the season with Strome and DeBrincat assisting. The Red Wings managed to trim it to 3-2 before Patrick Kane made it a two-goal game once again with his 33rd goal of the season off assists by Jonathan Toews and Erik Gustafsson. Toes added an insurance game with assists courtesy of Kane and Brent Seabrook. Cam Ward accounted for 43 saves on 45 shots in the winning effort.
Bruins down Avs in OT
Boston earned a 2-1 overtime victory at home Sunday over Colorado to move to 31-17-8 on the season. Brad Marchand scored the game-winner with 57 seconds left in overtime off assists by Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug. It was his 21st goal of the season. Jaroslav Halak recorded 35 saves on 36 shots to post the win.
NHL Betting Trends
Chicago
The Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last five games as an underdog. Chicago is 4-0 in its last four games versus the Eastern Conference.
Boston
The Bruins are 5-1 in their last six games versus the Central Division. Boston is 21-6 in its last 27 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
Chicago has benefitted from a fairly soft schedule lately. While its offense is clicking on all cylinders, it still isn’t great on the back end. With goals likely to be more difficult to come by today against Tuukka Rask and a solid Bruins defense, I think it’s time the Blackhawks’ winning streak comes to a close. Boston is the better team in most areas and it will show here.
