Alex Ovechkin scored a pair of goals in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Calgary Flames. Ovechkin forced a turnover in the Flames’ zone and ripped a shot over Dan Vladar’s shoulder to tie the game (2-2) in the second period. The 36-year-old also deposited an empty-net goal that moved him in to a tie with Jaromir Jagr for third on the NHL’s all-time goal-scoring list. Ovechkin finished the game with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal, and a hit in 17:10 of ice-time. He’s currently riding a four-game point streak and totals 36 goals and 34 assists in 56 games on the season.
Edmonton Oilers DFS Spin
Mikko Koskinen allowed three goals on 29 shots in Monday’s 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. Koskinen played a solid game and really can’t be blamed for the loss despite allowing three goals. Tyler Toffoli beat the 33-year-old with a couple of nice shots in the second period. Johnny Gaudreau also scored a beautiful, highlight-reel goal on a breakaway to put the game to bed for the Flames. Koskinen has a 19-9-3 record with a 3.05 goals-against average and .904 save percentage.
