Vitek Vanecek allowed three goals on 31 shots in Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Vanecek was beat by a Cam Fowler slap shot that he probably should’ve had in the opening period. In the third period the 25-year-old goaltender was beat by Trevor Zegras as the youngster slid the puck under his pad to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead midway through the frame. In overtime, he was burned again by Zegras as he wired a puck over his glove to give the Ducks their 1000th win in franchise history. Despite the tough outing, Vanecek has still yet to give up more than three goals in a game this season and should definitely be stashed away by fantasy players who are in need of a goaltender. He owns a 4-2-4 record with a 2.39 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.

Cal Petersen surrendered three goals on 23 shots in Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Petersen was hit up for goals in the first and third periods by Kyle Connor and Dylan DeMelo, respectively. DeMelo’s goal midway through the third tied up the score at 2-2 and set the stage for overtime. It would take just 32 seconds in the extra period for Mark Scheifele to end the whole ball of wax with a goal. In seven starts this season, Petersen’s calling card has been his consistency — he has let in more than two goals just twice, more than three goals just one time. Up next on the schedule for the Kings, a Wednesday meeting with the Capitals.
