Bruins edged in Game 3
Boston fell by a 3-2 score in Game 3 Monday night to go behind 2-1 in the best-of-7 series. After a scoreless first period, all the game’s goals were scored in the second period. Toronto got on the board first, but a minute later at the 16:30 mark David Krejci found the back of the net off assists from Jake DeBrusk and Karson Kuhlman. The Maple Leafs proceeded to score twice to go up 3-1, while the Bruins got one goal back on a Charlie Coyle power play goal with 38 seconds remaining in the period with assists going to Danton Heinen and Matt Grzelcyk. Tuukka Rask allowed three goals on 34 shots in the losing effort.
Johnsson scores clinching goal
Toronto earned a 3-2 victory over Boston in Game 3 with three second-period goals sparking the triumph. Trevor Moore gave the Maple Leafs a 1-0 advantage 2:38 into the second period with assists courtesy of Morgan Rielly and Tyler Ennis. After the Bruins tied it up, Auston Matthews gave Toronto the lead again on a power play goal midway through the period. Assists on the goal went to Andreas Johnsson and Mitch Marner. Johnsson scored another power play goal with 2:38 remaining in the second on assists from John Tavares and Matthews. Boston managed to get one goal back in the final minute of the second, but was unable to find the equalizer. Frederik Andersson accounted for 34 saves on 36 shots in the winning effort.
NHL Betting Trends
The Bruins are 5-2 in their last seven road games. Boston is 2-7 in its last nine Wednesday games.
The Maple Leafs are 2-5 in their last seven home games. Toronto is 8-2 in the last 10 home meetings.
This is a series that looks like it might be destined for seven games, so in order to get there the logical pick would be to take Boston tonight to get it back to even. With how closely contested Game 3 was, it could easily be flipped the other way tonight. I’m comfortable with taking a strong, veteran team like the Bruins as a road dog here.
