Bruins down a defenseman
Boston will be without defenseman Torey Krug today as he is out with an ankle injury. He is a key loss on the back line as he accounted for 14 goals and 45 assists during the regular season while offering solid defense. He racked up two assists in the Game 4 4-3 loss in overtime. In 11 postseason games, he is averaging over a point per game with three goals and nine assists.
Girardi scores winner in overtime
Defenseman Dan Girardi rushed the net in overtime and was the recipient of a perfect centering feed from forward Alex Killorn, flicking it past Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask for the game-winning goal only 3:18 into the extra session. Yanni Gourde also assisted on the play. Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos also scored a goal for the Lightning. The goal by Stamkos tied it at 3-3 with 7:04 left in the third period. Patrice Bergeron scored two goals for Boston, while David Pastrnak scored the other goal. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves on 32 shots in the win. Rask allowed four goals on 28 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
Boston
The Bruins are 1-6 in their last seven games on one day of rest. Boston is 43-21 in the last 64 meetings.
Tampa Bay
The Lightning are 2-6 in their last eight home games vs. the Bruins. The under is 5-2-2 in the last nine meetings.
Prediction:
I don’t feel like the return is great enough for a bet on the Lightning, but I don’t exactly trust the Bruins. So instead I’m going to take a shot at the under since it’s been a solid play in most recent meetings between these two teams. Expect both goalies and defenses to be sharp with it being an elimination game.
