Jordan Kyrou scored his team’s lone goal in Monday’s 4-1 loss against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1. Kyrou streaked in and beat Philipp Grubauer at 16:31 of the second period to tie things up for the Blues heading to the third period. Ivan Barbashev and Robert Thomas picked up assists on what turned out to be the team’s only offensive production. The goal was Kyrou’s first NHL playoff goal. He also ended up with a plus-1 rating, three shots on goal and a blocked shot in 13:32 of ice time against 21 shifts. Game 2 is set for Wednesday night back in Denver.

Gabriel Landeskog posted a goal with two assists in Monday’s 4-1 victory against the St. Louis Blues in Game 1. Landeskog ended up with a plus-3 rating, four shots on goal, a major penalty and a hit while winning seven of his 10 faceoff attempts in 18:16 of ice time across 27 shifts. The major penalty was the result of a fight with Saskatchewan native Brayden Schenn after what the captain felt was a dirty hit on Mikko Rantanen. As a result, he ended up being the first Colorado Avalanche player since Mike Ricci on April 17, 1997 to record the Gordie Howe hat trick (a goal, an assist and a fight in a single game).
Blues vs. Avalanche NHL Prediction
The under has cashed in five of the last six meetings between these two teams in Denver. The under is also 7-0 in the Blues’ last seven games following a loss of three or more goals, is 4-1 in their last five games overall and is 5-1 in their last six playoff games as an underdog. On the other side, the under is 5-2 in the Avalanche’ last seven games overall and is 5-2 in their last seven games as a favorite.
