Darcy Kuemper allowed two goals on 28 shots in Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Kuemper finished without allowing a goal in either of the final two periods, but a dicey first was enough to do him in, with the veteran netminder surrendering goals to Chandler Stephenson and Reilly Smith before intermission interceded. With the Avalanche offense having issues against Robin Lehner in the opposite crease, Kuemper’s early troubles were enough to saddle him with the tough loss. Keegan Kolesar scored on empty net with about 30 seconds remaining in regulation to provide the final margin of victory. Kuemper has now allowed at least two goals in every one of his five starts this season, but at least looks to be settling down after being rocked for five goals against Washington two starts back. The Avalanche will match up with the Blues on Thursday as they try to rebound from Tuesday’s narrow defeat.
St. Louis Blues DFS Spin
Jordan Binnington made 32 saves during Saturday’s 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Binnington allowed three goals on 35 shots to finish his night with a save percentage of .914. He gave up one goal just over 11 minutes after puck drop, but then kept Los Angeles at bay the entire second period. In the third, Binnington allowed two more goals but the Blues had already built a dominating lead by that point. This was Binnington’s fourth consecutive win and his record now sits at 4-0-0 to kick off his year.
