SAN ANTONIO (AP) -Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams returned to practice Monday with his sprained left wrist protectively taped. Cornerback Terence Newman was back as well.
Williams was first in line to catch a pass from Tony Romo when the offense started its warmup session. Instead of his normal No. 11 jersey, or even the No. 4 he sometimes wears at practice, Williams was wearing Patrick Crayton’s No. 84.
After coming down hard on his wrist in the first workout Sunday, Williams missed the afternoon session while having X-rays that were negative.
Newman had been sidelined by a slight groin strain since Aug. 8.
Earlier Monday, the Cowboys released running back Alonzo Coleman and cornerback Michael Hawkins, both of them recovering from knew injuries. The moves Monday put the Cowboys roster at 77 players.
Dallas hosts Tennessee this Friday.
