DENVER (AP) – Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson missed the Texans’ game Sunday at Denver with an ankle injury.
Johnson is among the league’s leaders in catches (86) and yards receiving (1,216). He was replaced in the starting lineup by Jacoby Jones.
The Broncos were without rookie receiver Demaryius Thomas (ankle) and safety Darcel McBath (quadriceps), while Kyle Orton was listed as the third quarterback even though his bruised ribs are on the mend.
The team wants to evaluate the play of rookie quarterback Tim Tebow in his first home start with Brady Quinn backing him up.
Broncos safety Brian Dawkins returned after missing three games with a knee injury.
