LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -Tight end Kellen Winslow was on the Cleveland Browns’ active roster Sunday against the Washington Redskins after being hospitalized with an undisclosed illness.
Winslow had played in 36 straight games before sitting out Monday night against the New York Giants, then missing practice most of the past week.
The Browns were without starting strong safety Mike Adams (hamstring). Sean Jones was to start in his place.
Starting cornerback Shawn Springs was inactive for the Redskins because of a calf injury, and Fred Smoot was inserted into the lineup despite a nagging groin injury. As expected, running back Ladell Betts missed the game with a sprained knee.
