ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -The Washington Redskins have moved quickly in their pursuit of Mike Shanahan.
Owner Dan Snyder flew with the former Denver Broncos coach to Washington hours after the team fired Jim Zorn.
Snyder and Shanahan landed on Snyder’s plane, dubbed Redskins One, at Dulles International Airport near Redskins Park in mid-afternoon.
Shanahan is the team’s top choice to replace Zorn, who was dismissed in the pre-dawn hours a day after Washington completed a 4-12 season with a 23-20 loss at San Diego.
Shanahan won two Super Bowls in 14 seasons with the Broncos. He was fired a year ago after Denver missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
