FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – Darrelle Revis has signed his four-year deal with the New York Jets, officially marking his return to the team after a long holdout.
Revis agreed to a new contract late Sunday night and took an early morning flight Monday from his home in South Florida. He arrived at the Jets’ training facility after 1 p.m., rejoined his teammates and signed the deal.
Revis says the process “humbled me” and he had “butterflies” before seeing his teammates because he didn’t know what kind of reception they’d give him. He was relieved when they cheered him as he joined them on the practice field.
Revis didn’t practice, but coach Rex Ryan says the cornerback will play in the season opener against Baltimore next Monday night.
