LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell threw his first interception of the season Monday night.
Campbell went 271 passes dating to last season – 249 this season – without being picked off until Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Deshea Townsend grabbed a tipped ball late in the third quarter Monday.
On the play, Campbell’s throw was knocked into the air by intended receiver Clinton Portis, and Townsend got it. Townsend then fumbled, and Pittsburgh recovered.
Washington challenged the ruling on the field of an interception, but the original call stood.
