WASHINGTON (AP) – Robert Griffin III’s chances of starting next week are under further review.
Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Monday that the ”intent” is to start Griffin against the Indianapolis Colts, but the coach went on to stress that the staff needs to review the reasons for the offense’s lack of production before making a decision.
The Redskins are 0-3 since Griffin returned from an ankle injury and have scored only one touchdown in each of the last two games. Griffin has been sacked 16 times in those three games, more than Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy were sacked in their six starts combined.
Griffin completed 11 of 19 passes for 106 yards in Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which dropped Washington to 3-8.
