ST. LOUIS (AP) – St. Louis Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan will undergo surgery next month because of blurred vision in his left eye since late September.
Finnegan was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, a day before the Rams beat the Chicago Bears 42-21. During the bye week he got a second medical opinion and was advised to seek immediate treatment and sit out the rest of the season.
Finnegan injured the orbital bone in his left eye against the 49ers on Sept. 26 and has made one start since then and missed three others with what the team reported as a hamstring injury. He played in the nickel package against the Colts before the bye.
Coach Jeff Fisher said Finnegan ”has a chance” for a full recovery.
