ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) -Prosecutors have dismissed weapons and assault charges against former New England Patriots player Willie Andrews, who was accused of pointing a gun at his fiancee’s head during an argument.
But he may not be in the clear.
After charges were dismissed in Attleboro District Court on Thursday because the woman refused to testify against him, prosecutors said they will take the case against Andrews to a grand jury.
The former seventh-round draft pick was arrested June 30 after Mansfield police responded to a 911 call from his apartment. The woman told police he waved his arm and the gun he held touched her temple.
Andrews, who had been on probation at the time in an unrelated marijuana possession case, was cut by the Patriots the day after his arrest.
