EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – The Minnesota Vikings are Adrian Peterson’s team. Christian Ponder, though, is the one most responsible for their progress.
The passing game was so bad and the ground game was so good that, for a while, Peterson was rushing for more yards than Ponder was accumulating passing.
But since the Vikings lost to the Packers on Dec. 2, due largely to the two interceptions Ponder threw deep in Green Bay territory, the second-year quarterback has played a lot better. He says it’s because he’s making smarter decisions. Coaches and teammates say they’ve seen more confidence in him during Minnesota’s four-game winning streak that put the team in the playoffs.
