IRVING, Texas (AP) -Patriots running back Sammy Morris left Sunday’s game at Dallas after taking a hard hit to the chest and tight end Benjamin Watson sustained an ankle injury.
Morris, starting in place of injured Laurence Maroney, was hurt early in the third quarter after he was tackled hard on a 2-yard gain. Receiver Donte Stallworth immediately signaled for team trainers, who spent several minutes looking at Morris as he laid on the field.
After Morris slowly walked off the field and was examined on the sideline, his helmet was taken away from him and he was taken to the locker room. The team said Morris had a chest injury and that his return was questionable.
Morris, coming off consecutive 100-yard rushing games, had 10 carries for 14 yards.
Watson was hurt in the second quarter when he was tackled near the sideline by Roy Williams after making a catch. Watson was slow getting up, then walked up and down the sideline a few times before being taken to the locker room.
