FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -First-round draft choice Devin McCourty has signed with the New England Patriots, according to his agent.
Andy Simms tweeted Wednesday morning that McCourty, a cornerback from Rutgers, had signed a contract and was in camp. All 12 players drafted by the Patriots this year have signed in time for the first full-squad practice on Thursday.
McCourty, taken with the 27th overall pick, is the second first-round choice to sign. Dez Bryant, the Oklahoma State wide receiver chosen 24th by the Dallas Cowboys, is the other.
McCourty is expected to compete with second-year pro Darius Butler for a starting cornerback job. Leigh Bodden, going into his eighth season, is the other starting cornerback.
