FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -The New York Jets came within a win of going to the Super Bowl in a surprisingly successful first season for Rex Ryan and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez.
The Jets cleared out their lockers Monday, following their 30-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC championship game Sunday. The talk turned from the disappointment of coming so close to the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 41 years to thoughts of a bright future ahead for the team.
Ryan says he told his players to wear their Jets gear with pride because it’s no longer the “Same Old Jets.” He also suggested they should “punch somebody in the nose” if anyone tries to put a negative spin on the franchise now or says the team isn’t tough.
