DENVER (AP) -A judge has entered a not guilty plea for the man accused of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams in a drive-by shooting.
Willie D. Clark is charged with first-degree murder and 38 other counts in the New Years Day 2007 slaying.
Denver District Judge Christina M. Habas entered the plea on Clark’s behalf Friday after rejecting defense attorneys’ request for a two-month delay.
An indictment says Williams and Clark were at a Denver nightclub with separate groups that exchanged taunts before Williams and his friends left in a rented limousine. A witness told investigators that Clark was driving an SUV when he caught up with Williams’ limo and fired into it.
The 25-year-old Clark also faces charges in an unrelated slaying.
