WASHINGTON (AP) – The NFL and the players’ union have wrapped up a sixth consecutive day of mediated talks – and they will meet again Thursday.
NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith and most of his negotiating group – including four current players – left Wednesday’s session at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service a little after 5:30 p.m.
That was less than an hour after Smith and a dozen members of the union’s team returned from a 1 1/2-hour break.
Smith and others declined to comment. So did NFL lead negotiator Jeff Pash when he left later, other than to say, “See you tomorrow morning.”
The current collective bargaining agreement expires next week, and the voluntary mediation is seen as an attempt to spur progress.
