MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -An NFL spokesman says Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams will play in the season-opener at Cleveland this weekend, regardless of what happens with their court case this week.
The players are challenging a four-game suspension handed down for violating the league’s drug policy. Neither is accused of taking steroids, and the case is tied up in court.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday that even if the court rules for the NFL, the suspensions will not begin this weekend.
