NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Deuce McAllister scored on a 3-yard run Monday night for his 54th career touchdown, setting a New Orleans Saints record.
McAllister’s third-quarter TD gave the Saints a 38-21 lead against the Green Bay Packers and broke Dalton Hilliard’s mark, which he tied a week earlier in Kansas City.
Saints coach Sean Payton immediately sent McAllister out with the offense after Jason David returned an interception to the Packers’ 3. After a first-down incompletion, McAllister muscled his way through the line for the score and the Louisiana Superdome erupted.
McAllister kept the ball as he trotted to the sideline, where he was hugged by Payton.
It was McAllister’s 48th rushing touchdown. He also has five receiving and one on a fumble return.
