RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Even after arriving in Seattle just before midnight, Marshawn Lynch was up and at the Seattle Seahawks’ practice facility around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Pete Carroll wasn’t kidding when he said the plan was to get Lynch to work immediately.
The Seahawks hope Lynch is part of the solution for a foundering run game that ranks 27th in the NFL after four weeks. He was acquired from Buffalo in exchange for a pair of future draft picks.
Seattle believes Lynch’s rugged running style will be the answer for an offense that’s gone nearly five seasons without a running back approaching 1,000 yards. The 24-year-old Lynch rumbled for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two NFL seasons.
