INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -An Indianapolis man died after falling nine stories from a deck of a hotel overlooking Monument Circle, near where thousands gathered for the NFL’s season-opening festivities.
Investigators were treating the Thursday night death of Timothy Krochalk as a suicide, Capt. Phil Burton of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Friday. No injuries on the ground were reported.
Krochalk, 32, faced outstanding warrants for child molesting, Burton said.
He was pronounced dead at Wishard Memorial Hospital at 7:40 p.m., about 30 minutes after the fall, a Marion County Coroner’s Office report said.
Krochalk might have jumped from the outdoor pool deck of the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel, Deputy Police Chief Joseph McAtee said. A party was being held on the pool deck, which is surrounded by a railing, he said.
The NFL sponsored a concert featuring Faith Hill and Kelly Clarkson before the season opener between the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints.
