NEW YORK (AP) -The New York Jets have placed a first- and-third round tender on wide receiver Braylon Edwards, and tendered seven other restricted free agents.
Running back-kick returner Leon Washington and wide receiver Brad Smith received second-round tenders Thursday, although both were fourth-round draft picks.
Backup quarterback Kellen Clemens received an original-round tender (second). Because the Jets used second-round tenders on Washington and Smith, they would instead receive a third-rounder if another team signs him.
Original tenders were placed on safety Eric Smith (third), offensive tackle Wayne Hunter (third) and cornerback Drew Coleman (sixth). The Jets have the right of first refusal on safety James Ihedigbo, who was undrafted.
